WP2. Improved natural emissions of NOx from soils and lightning in the Tropics
|
Duration |
|
Tasks |
- T2.1 Data processing and bias characterization of spaceborne NO2 columns (M13=>M15).
Regrid OMI/TROPOMI NO2 data onto 0.5°x0.5° and implement in MAGRITTEv1.1; Evaluate the data against independent observations to assess OMI/TROPOMI biases; Use the biases to adjust the spaceborne data through regressions minimizing the mismatch against independent data.
- T2.2 Top-down NOx fluxes (M16=>M21).
Update soil and lightning NO emissions in MAGRITTE; Revise vertical distribution of lightning NO emissions; Design an inversion system for deriving natural NOx fluxes constrained by OMI/TROPOMI bias-corrected columns (T2.1); Perform Inversions for 2014-2016 (OMI) and 2019-2020 (TROPOMI).
- T2.3 Evaluation of top-down soil NO fluxes (M18=>M24).
Evaluate the space-based NOx emission inventories (T2.2) against surface NO measurements in the Tropics; Assess added value of the top-down inventory with respect to the a priori soil NO database used in MAGRITTE; Write peer-reviewed publication.
